The 10th match of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup was played between Australia and South Africa at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, India. Australia, the defending champions, were looking to bounce back from their opening match defeat to England. South Africa, on the other hand, was fresh off a victory over Bangladesh.

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. South Africa made two changes to their side, bringing in Wayne Parnell and Tabraiz Shamsi for Andile Phehlukwayo and Keshav Maharaj.

Quinton de Kock got South Africa off to a flying start, scoring his second consecutive century in the tournament. He was well supported by Aiden Markram, who scored 56. The pair put on a 124-run partnership for the first wicket.

After Markram’s dismissal, South Africa lost a few wickets in quick succession. However, David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen steadied the ship with a 64-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Miller scored a half-century, while Klaasen remained unbeaten on 49.

South Africa finished their innings on 311/7, with de Kock being the top scorer with 109. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the Australian bowlers, picking up three wickets.

Australia’s chase got off to a poor start, as they lost both their openers cheaply. Marnus Labuschagne was the only Australian batsman to offer any resistance, scoring 46. However, the rest of the Australian batsmen failed to fire, and they were bundled out for 177.

Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the South African bowlers, picking up three wickets. Tabraiz Shamsi also chipped in with two wickets.
