The Scarlet Knights add another pass catcher to the mix.

Rutgers wanted to get more players who are good at catching passes this offseason, especially for the Class of 2024. On Wednesday, Isaiah Crumpler signed his official agreement to join the Scarlet Knights.

247Sports Composite Ranking: 3-star, No. 149 WR, No. 33 in NC

High School Position: WR (6’0, 175lbs)

Projected College Position: Wide Receiver

High School: D H Conley

Hometown: Greenville, NC

Crumpler will start his classes earlier than usual, which means he’ll have more time to practice and compete with the other players who catch passes. The group of receivers he’s joining isn’t very big, and the passing game was a big issue for Rutgers last season, partly because they didn’t have enough players in the wide receiver position.

Greg Schiano successfully recruited the best FCS wide receiver, Dymere Miller, and Christian Dremel is making a comeback. Crumpler has an opportunity to compete for playing time because there isn’t much returning in terms of production. Schiano has a history of giving young players a shot to prove themselves, and Crumpler might be the next one in line for that opportunity.
