North East had a tough night. Things got worse when Tondonba Singh got a second yellow card for a rough tackle on Kiyan, and they were left with only 10 players.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant scored three goals to win 3-1 against NorthEast United FC. They came from behind and secured the victory at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 tonight.

In the 4th minute, Phalguni Singh of NEUFC scored the first goal by boldly taking a shot from outside the box. He curled the ball into the top right corner, exciting the local crowd right from the start.

The Mariners didn’t back down. They responded by attacking from the sides, stretching the Highlanders’ defense and creating openings in the middle for strikers Armando Sadiku and Jason Cummings to take advantage of.

Liston Colaco made a good run, earning the team a free-kick on the left side. Deepak Tangri, positioned well, met the delivery and headed it into the net to score the equalizer in the 13th minute.

After that, Mohun Bagan Super Giant dominated the game. Players from the back to the front contributed, taking shots at the NorthEast United FC defense. Kiyan Nassiri and Anirudh Thapa teamed up, with Kiyan taking a shot from a distance. Asish Rai, who scored his first ISL goal earlier this season against his former club Hyderabad FC, also tried his luck from the right side.

In a match filled with aerial battles, Sadiku jumped and controlled the ball, setting it up for Cummings to shoot in the 44th minute. Cummings, an Australian who played in the FIFA World Cup last year, tapped the ball in from a short distance, giving the visitors the lead in the 29th minute of the game.

Things got even worse for North East during the night. They ended up with only 10 players as Tondonba Singh received a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Kiyan.

NorthEast couldn’t bounce back after Mohun Bagan scored their second goal. The attacking players like Colaco, Hugo Boumous, and Manvir Singh dominated the opponent’s box. Boumous and Manvir entered the game in the 61st minute, and that greatly contributed to the visitors maintaining control over the match.

The scoring spree reached its peak when defender Subhasish Bose joined in. He seized a pass from Colaco and kicked the ball into the bottom right corner from the left side of the 18-yard box.

Despite having a comfortable two-goal lead, the Mariners kept pushing for more goals. The Highlanders struggled with accuracy and direction after Phalguni’s fantastic goal in the fourth minute.
