Jefferson Lerma, who plays in the Premier League, thinks Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player he’s ever faced on the field. He’s played against many skilled players, including Lionel Messi.
Lerma, a midfielder for Crystal Palace, is in his first season at Selhurst Park and has quickly become a part of Roy Hodgson’s team. After moving from Bournemouth when his contract there ended, the 29-year-old has been playing regularly for the Eagles.
Lerma talked to TalkSport before his team’s Premier League match against Liverpool on Saturday.
Not bothered by the idea of facing Mohamed Salah, the midfielder talked about the quality of players he’s encountered in his career, pointing out Cristiano Ronaldo as the best.
“I’ve been fortunate to play against some of the biggest stars like Messi and Ronaldo during their prime,” he said.
“It’s tough to say who’s the best I’ve faced, but I’d say it’s probably Cristiano Ronaldo,” he added.

He has also faced Cristiano Ronaldo several times in international matches, as they often compete against each other in CONMEBOL games.
Lerma played in 12 games for Crystal Palace this season across all competitions but missed four due to injury. The experienced midfielder will be important in the Eagles’ midfield in the match against Liverpool on Saturday.
