Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah sent a caring Christmas message on Monday, asking everyone to remember the families in Gaza who are grieving the loss of their loved ones. This marked his second comment on the conflict in Gaza.

Salah shared that he feels a heavy heart this Christmas due to the war in Gaza, which has faced intense Israeli bombing.

He posted a black-and-white photo of a Christmas tree on social media.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in the loss of at least 20,727 Palestinian lives, and around 57,975 people have been injured from Israel’s continuous attacks on Gaza.

Expressing his empathy, Salah said, “With the brutal war going on in the Middle East, especially the death and destruction in Gaza, this year we get to Christmas with very heavy hearts and we share the pain of those families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones.”

He urged people not to forget them and not to become accustomed to their suffering.

Salah conveyed his Christmas message to his more than 63 million followers on Instagram and almost 19 million on X.

Salah faced criticism in Egypt for not commenting on the conflict sooner, with supporters comparing him to other Arab sports figures who spoke out earlier.

In October, Salah made a “significant donation” to support Gazans, as reported by the Egyptian Red Crescent.
