Before December 2023, the New Zealand women’s team held a perfect 8-0 record against Pakistani women in T20Is.
Two consecutive games changed everything for the Pakistani girls.
After winning the first game by 7 wickets at the same venue, the Girls in Green secured a decisive 2-0 lead by outclassing their opponents with a 10-run victory in the second game.
Pakistan restricted the hosts to 127/7 after posting 137/6 themselves.
Aalia Riaz scored 32 off 22 for Pakistan, hitting one shot over the boundary and three strokes to the fence. The opener, Muneeba Ali, scored 35.
In reply, New Zealand, thanks to disciplined bowling by Pakistanis, was once at 89/6 before Georgia Pimmer and Hamma Rowe fought back, attempting to bring the hosts back into the game.
However, they fell 10 runs short as Fatima Sana successfully defended 17 runs in the last over.
Fatima Sana took 3 wickets, while Sadia Iqbal sent 2 players back to the pavilion.
