QUEENSTOWN- On Saturday, the Pakistan women’s cricket team won the three-match T20I series against New Zealand 2-1 at John Davies Oval.

The Green Shirts won the first two matches against the Kiwis by seven wickets and 10 runs, making them the first Asian team to win a T20 series in New Zealand.

Nida Dar’s team lost the third match today by only six runs, using the DLS method.

In the final match, Pakistan batted first and had a solid start with an opening partnership of 64 runs in the first 10 overs. The team scored 137 runs, losing five wickets in the process.

Sidra Ameen scored the highest for Pakistan with 43 runs, and their captain contributed 25 runs.

New Zealand, having already lost the series, started the chase strongly. Suzie Bates remained unbeaten with 51 runs off just 42 balls, and Amelia Kerr hit 35 runs from 31 balls.

The Kiwis had scored 101 runs with a loss of two wickets in 15 overs when the game was stopped early because of rain. The hosts won the match by six runs according to the DLS method.

Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sandhu from Pakistan each took one wicket.

In her 141st T20 match, Nida Dar became the first player to play the most T20 matches in Pakistan. Previously, this record was held by Bismah Maroof, who played in 140 T20 Internationals.

Bates received the Player of the Match award, while Fatima Sana won the Player of the Series award.

The two teams will face each other in the ODI series of the ICC Women’s Championship. The first match is scheduled for December 12 in Queenstown, and the remaining two matches will take place on December 15 and 18 in Christchurch.
