This unexpected release strategy follows a recent update where it was revealed that the first episode of the series would debut on both Disney+ and Hulu, with streaming availability extended through January 31. The first two episodes are currently accessible on Disney+, while the first episode is now streaming on Hulu. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly on Disney+, leading up to the Season 1 finale on January 31.

Expressing gratitude to the dedicated Percy Jackson fanbase, Pamela Levine, Head of Marketing at Disney Branded Television and National Geographic Content, stated, “We’re so grateful for the amazing and dedicated Percy Jackson fans who have enthusiastically supported this project from the very beginning. They’ve been counting down the days, and as a special thank you, we wanted to let our fans enjoy the first two episodes a bit earlier than expected.”

The Percy Jackson series has been eagerly awaited by fans, especially given the rocky history of film adaptations. Rick Riordan, the author of the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” books, was dissatisfied with the 2010 and 2013 film adaptations by 20th Century Fox, leading to a desire for a faithful TV adaptation. Riordan is deeply involved in the Disney+ series, serving as a writer and executive producer. The plan is to create five seasons, each based on one of the five books in the series.

In a Variety interview in October, 20th Television president Karey Burke shared insights into the studio’s ambitions, expressing a desire to adapt all of Riordan’s works in the Percy Jackson universe. She mentioned Riordan’s openness to expanding the universe beyond the original five books, showcasing an inclusive approach to adapting his creations.

For Percy Jackson enthusiasts, the early release is a special gift this holiday season, allowing them to dive into the magical world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians ahead of schedule.
