Karachi Kings, the winners of the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), recently revealed that they have made a significant trade with Multan Sultans before the upcoming draft later this month.

In this trade, Shan Masood, who is currently the Test captain of Pakistan, will be part of the Karachi Kings’ team. In return, Karachi Kings are saying goodbye to left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram, as well as their first choices in the diamond and silver rounds of the draft.

Masood first joined the Sultans in the 2018 season and played his first match in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2019 against the Kings.

In the 2020 season, Masood captained the Sultans, guiding them to finish at the top of the league stage. This achievement marked the first time in the franchise’s history that they qualified for the playoffs.

Masood scored a total of 1,318 runs in 42 matches, and his significant contribution was crucial in Sultans winning the title in 2021.

Sultans’ Chief Executive, Ali Khan Tareen, expressed gratitude to Shan Masood, the team’s longest-serving member. Masood served as captain and played a significant role in the team’s success. Tareen mentioned they would miss him and wished him the best with his new team.

Before this, the Kings exchanged their captain from the last edition, Imad Wasim, with Hasan Ali from Islamabad United.

The draft for the ninth season of the PSL will happen at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Wednesday, December 13.

PSL 9 is expected to take place from February 8 to March 24, 2024.

It was previously mentioned that two countries are being considered to host certain matches of PSL 9.

Sources suggest that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and South Africa might host the initial matches of PSL due to elections taking place in Pakistan.

However, sources have mentioned that most of the teams are pushing for the entire event to be held in Pakistan.
