In the match, Melbourne Stars scored 172 runs, with Daniel Sams taking four wickets for Sydney Thunder. In the end, Thunder needed 23 runs off 23 balls, and Sams (scoring 22 not out in 13 balls) sealed the victory with a quick performance.

Despite Webster’s outstanding performance for the Stars, Sydney Thunder emerged victorious, moving up to fifth place in the BBL standings, while the Stars remained at the bottom with just one win in 11 matches in 2023.

Sams and Webster were the standout players, but Zaman Khan from Pakistan earned the Player-of-the-Match award with three crucial wickets. Webster was the only Stars batter to build on a good start, while Thunder’s strong opening partnership of Alex Hales and Cameron Bancroft set the stage for their victory.

In the end, Sydney Thunder secured a five-wicket win, with Webster’s all-round effort not enough to turn the tide in favor of Melbourne Stars.
