DUBAI: On Tuesday, the young and energetic Pakistan U19 team easily defeated Afghanistan by 83 runs in a one-sided match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19s Asia Cup at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai.

Ubaid Shah, a 17-year-old player for Pakistan, was the most valuable player with the ball. He took three crucial wickets, playing a key role in putting his team in a strong position.

Afghanistan didn’t stand a chance in the game. They faced early setbacks, losing four wickets with only 60 runs on the board in just 13 overs.

Numan Shah scored the most runs for the struggling Afghan team, reaching 54. However, even he fell victim to Ubaid’s impressive performance.

Afghanistan received some important help from the lower part of their team. Captain Naseer Khan Maroofkhil and Faridoon Dawoodzai scored 26 and – runs respectively. However, their efforts weren’t sufficient to secure a victory in the game.

Afghanistan finished their innings with a total of 220 runs in 48.4 overs.

In the first innings, Pakistan batted first and scored a huge total of 303 runs. Three players, namely Shamyl Hussain, Shahzaib Khan, and Riaz Ullah played exceptionally well with the bat.

Shamyl and Shahzaib opened for Pakistan and gave the team an excellent beginning, putting together 115 runs before Shamyl got out in the 17th over.

Shamyl played an exciting innings, scoring 75 runs off 54 balls with seven fours and five sixes, at an impressive strike rate of 138.88. The 19-year-old’s quick performance supported Shahzaib, who took his time to settle on the pitch.

After Shamyl was out, Shahzaib took the lead in Pakistan’s batting and played a responsible innings, scoring 79 runs with 10 boundaries. He was dismissed by Faridoon Dawoodzai in the 34th over.

Pakistan faced some difficulties in batting, with only four players reaching double figures. As wickets continued to fall, it seemed like the team might end up with a score under 250 runs. However, Riaz stayed on the pitch and played a vital innings, scoring 73 runs.

Azan Awais, the hero of the match against India, could only manage to score 20 runs this time.
