Fulbright Degree Program-2025 Scholarship

The Fulbright Degree Program is a highly selective and prestigious initiative that aims to promote international understanding and collaboration by fostering academic excellence among Pakistani students. Through this program, participants gain access to world-class education, enhance their professional skills, and develop a deeper appreciation for global cultures. Upon completing their studies, Fulbright scholars are expected to return to Pakistan and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.

Funding and Support

The Fulbright Degree Program provides comprehensive financial support to participants, covering tuition, textbooks, airfare, living stipends, and health insurance. Additionally, USEFP assists with visa processing and provides guidance throughout the program duration.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Fulbright Degree Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Pakistani citizenship and residency
  • Strong academic record, with a minimum of 16 years of formal education for Master’s and 18 years for PhD programs
  • Demonstrated potential for academic excellence and leadership
  • Fluency in English, as assessed through the GRE General Test and the Duolingo Test for shortlisted candidates
  • Commitment to returning to Pakistan after completing the program and contributing to national development

Program Cycle and Timeline

The application cycle for the Fulbright Degree Program 2025 is as follows:

  • Application Opening: November 2023
  • Application Deadline: February 28, 2024
  • Review and Evaluation: March-July 2024
  • Shortlisting and Interviews: August-September 2024
  • University Placement and Visa Interviews: October-December 2024
  • Departure to the United States: July-August 2025

Scholarship Awards and Expectations

Approximately 150 scholarships are expected to be awarded in 2025. Fulbright scholars are expected to:

  • Share their experiences and insights gained through their studies to contribute to the development of Pakistan
  • Return to Pakistan within 30 days of completing their program

Application Process

The application process for the Fulbright Degree Program is simple and straightforward. Applicants must submit an online application, including:

  • GRE General Test scores (minimum 145 in each section, higher in relevant sections)
  • Official transcripts (HEC-attested preferred)
  • Three recommendation letters

Additional Eligibility Clarifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required for Master’s programs, while a Master’s or M.Phil degree is required for PhD programs.

  • Foreign degree holders are eligible to apply, but priority is given to non-foreign-educated candidates.

Standardized Examinations

  • GRE General Test scores are required before the application deadline. The specific score requirements vary by discipline.

  • University placements are made by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in New York, considering applicants’ preferences.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Fulbright Degree Program is rigorous and involves four stages:

  • Screening: Shortlisting of eligible candidates based on academic record, standardized test scores, and application essays.
  • Evaluation: Comprehensive evaluation of shortlisted candidates by a panel of experts.
  • Interview: Personal interviews with shortlisted candidates to assess their motivations, leadership qualities, and potential contributions.
  • Final Selection: Review of interview results and selection of scholarship recipients by the Foreign Scholarship Board in Washington, D.C.
