The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has affirmed its commitment to hosting the tournament in India, with a contingency plan to relocate matches if any state encounters challenges in hosting due to justified reasons.
The IPL 2024 auction witnessed notable records, including Australia’s Mitchell Starc becoming the most expensive player in tournament history, secured by Kolkata Knight Riders for a staggering Rs24.75 crore.
The auction also experienced a 57% increase in viewership compared to the previous edition.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced that the IPL auction attracted a substantial audience of 22.8 million viewers, surpassing the figures from the 2022 auction.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to begin their title defense under the leadership of MS Dhoni, who, according to CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, is recovering well from a knee injury and is expected to be fit for the upcoming season.
