Mbappe’s contract with the Ligue 1 champions is set to expire at the end of June, allowing him the freedom to engage with potential suitors for the next season.

“I’m not going to hide that I want Kylian to stay,” Al-Khelaifi stated in an interview with broadcaster RMC. He went on to affirm Mbappe’s status as the “best player in the world,” asserting that Paris is the ideal club for the talented forward.

Despite significant investments in transfer fees since the Qatari ownership’s arrival in 2011, PSG has yet to secure a Champions League title. Mbappe, a crucial component of the team, has recently been linked with a move to Real Madrid, a 14-time European champion.

Al-Khelaifi highlighted the advantages PSG offers, citing the world-class training center and the coaching prowess of Luis Enrique. He emphasized the club’s consistent presence in the latter stages of the Champions League, making them a formidable force among the elite clubs.

Amid ongoing contract negotiations, a source revealed that Mbappe had foregone substantial bonuses, amounting to “several tens of millions” of euros, to facilitate a potential move away from PSG. His existing contract extension, signed in 2022, includes a substantial salary of 72 million euros per year, a signing bonus of 150 million euros, and escalating loyalty bonuses.

Al-Khelaifi, however, dismissed the notion that Mbappe’s decision hinges on financial considerations, stating, “Whether Mbappe stays or not is not a question of money.” He urged the media and fans to respect the situation, especially with crucial matches on the horizon for PSG.

Mbappe’s outstanding form this season, contributing 24 goals in all competitions for Ligue 1 leaders PSG, adds further intrigue to the ongoing speculation surrounding his future in the football world.
